HOW DOES THE AURORA DS WORK?
The Aurora DS uses a patented new technology called ELOS™ or Electro-Optical
Synergy. The Aurora DS combines optical and electrical energy for permanent
hair removal. With ELOS, a low and painless dose of optical energy heats
the hair, making it more susceptible to electrical energy. Next, a low level
of electrical energy destroys the hair permanently.
WHY IS AURORA DS BETTER THAN OLDER HAIR REMOVAL SYSTEMS?
Older systems that used only one type of energy (such as intense pulsed light)
required such high levels of energy that they caused a great deal of pain.
Simply stated, the Aurora DS uses lower levels energy to reduce pain. But
the real beauty of the Aurora DS is that by using two distinct types of
energy, it can remove hair much more effectively than other systems, meaning

DOES IT HURT?

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Usually clients have 4-6 treatments to achieve their desired results. Clients
who only want to thin out hair in a certain area, such as male forearms,
may go through fewer treatments to achieve their desired results. The factors
affecting the number of treatments will be reviewed at the time of consultation.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The Aurora DS is one of the fastest permanent hair removal systems available.
Treatment times depend on the size of the area to be treated, the density
of hair and the color of the hair. Most procedures can be performed over
the course of a lunch break, although larger areas such as a male back
may take over an hour.
IS THERE ANY RECOVERY TIME?
No. Clients can usually resume regular activities immediately following treatment.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
The energies used in the Aurora DS are both commonly used in a range of medical
and cosmetic procedures and are proven to be safe. With its ELOS™ technology,
the Aurora DS can deliver safe doses of electrical and optical energy to
the hair follicle with much less occurrence of side effects caused by previous
systems. Although most people experience no side effects at all, a few
exhibit short-term reddening of the surrounding skin similar to a light
sunburn.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS TO HAVING A TREATMENT?
We advise our clients to avoid sun exposure or use a sunblock of SPF 30 for
a minimum of three weeks prior to a treatment. Recently tanned skin can
increase the risk of temporary discoloration of the skin. The use of certain
photosensitive drugs must also be discontinued before a treatment. All
contraindications will be thoroughly discussed during the free consultation.

Before your Mesotherapy begins we identify your areas of concern and measure them, in inches, with a measuring tape. After your 4th Mesotherapy treatment we measure again to confirm that you are losing inches. A typical patient can lose up to two dress sizes with ten treatments. WHAT DOES MICRODERMABRASION DO?

DOES MICRODERMABRASION HURT?
No. The level of discomfort for the vast majority of patients is minimal. As your collagen formation builds with each successive treatment you can advance to higher settings to maximize your results. Your skin may feel warm and have a pink appearance the first day or two.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A TREATMENT?
Treatments limited to the face typically last 20 to 30 minutes, but if your treatment includes the neck and upper chest area it may last up to an hour. For best results we recommend a course of microdermabrasions every two weeks for a total of six to eight treatments. After that you can schedule maintenance treatments every month or so. The vast majority of our patients see and feel a significant difference after only one or two treatments but schedule additional treatments to increase and maintain this improvement.
AFTER THE TREATMENT
A skin care regimen will be recommended to address your individual skin care
needs prior to leaving our office. Redness and a sensation of warmth or
sunburn will also resolve after a few hours. A healing moisturizer will
be applied to re-hydrate the skin after your treatment to minimize your
discomfort. Avoid direct sun exposure for 7 days after a treatment. This
is very important as skin damage from the sun can darken your healing skin
and reverse the positive rejuvenation you have gained from your microdermabrasion.
We will recommend a sunscreen for your daily use to minimize your sun exposure.
Exposure to UV radiation is one of the key factors in skin damage. Avoid
glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, scrubs or other skin exfoliants
for 72 hours both before and after your microdermabrasion. Our aesthetician
can make recommendations for your make-up routine.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY MICRODERMABRASION?
You will be pleased to find your skin appearing more vibrant and healthy and it will feel softer and smoother to the touch. Again, there is almost no recovery time, no discomfort, and you can return to work immediately. A series of microdermabrasion treatments can help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, remove thickened skin areas due to the impact of environmental factors and reduce the appearance of blemishes caused by sun damage. Additionally, microdermabrasion improves the appearance of open pores by unclogging oily build-up and acne blemishes.

SCLEROTHERAPY FOR LEG VEINS
If you're embarrassed by unsightly spider veins and painful varicose veins, sclerotherapy is a safe and effective way of eliminating them and giving your legs an even and youthful appearance. But sclerotherapy is more than just a cosmetic treatment. Because sclerotherapy eliminates veins that function improperly, blood flow is shifted to other healthy veins nearby, thus improving the circulation of your legs. In addition, sclerotherapy may eliminate the need for an invasive surgical procedure. During the treatment a solution of saline (salt water) or sotradechol (detergent sclerosant) will be injected directly into the veins with a tiny needle. The solution causes the vein to blanch (turn white), and then gradually disappear. During each session, Dr. Ladd will treat the areas on each leg that concern you the most. You will most likely require a few treatments to treat all existing veins. The entire treatment takes no longer than 15 minutes unless you request additional treatment. The Thermal Lift RF procedure is a safe, non-surgical process that uses thermal and intense pulsed light to tighten skin and reverse the signs of aging.
